The Email Data & CRM Data audience types allow for the creation of custom audience attributes. The definition of these attributes on an audience and subsequent passing of this data when posting audience member data, allows for advanced filtering when creating direct mail campaigns.
In order to pass custom attributes for Email Data and CRM Data, the attributes must first be defined on the audience. To do this, click the menu item from the left-hand navigation menu to access the Audiences page. Next, click the icon to the left of the audience name you wish to define attributes for.
Once you click this button, a dialog will appear which will allow you to add or remove attributes for an audience as illustrated below.
The following attribute data types are supported:
- List (simple or complex)
To add custom attributes to an audience from this dialog, click then sign to define a new attribute. Then, select the data type for the new attribute, give a unique name to the attribute, then click the button.
You may delete an attribute by clicking the next to the attribute's name. However, you can only delete attributes when no audience members have been posted with custom attributes. Once there is at least one audience member with custom attribute data, you will no longer be able to delete custom attributes from the audience. At any point you can always add additional attributes.
Once you have added your custom audience attributes, you can click the icon to the left of the audience to see posting instructions which will now include specific instructions around posting custom attributes.
