One of the requirements of the the CAN SPAM Act of 2003, which regulates commercial email in the United States, is that consumers are provided a mechanism to opt out from receiving email from a "sender" and that these users are suppressed from any future email after 10 business days, either directly by the "sender" or their partners.
The communication and sharing of opt-out information to partners is achieved using a suppression list. If you are sending email directly or through partners outside of the ReachDynamics platform, it is critical that your suppression list is uploaded to ReachDynamics every 10 business days to ensure compliance with the CAN SPAM Act. ReachDynamics provides numerous mechanisms to upload suppression list updates, including manual uploads, FTP/SFTP integrations and direct integrations with third-party suppression list management companies, such as Optizmo.
One you set up an email remarketing campaign, you will be prompted to specify the suppression list for the campaign, which will suppress email from being sent to any email addresses on this list to ensure for compliance with the CAN SPAM Act. In addition to suppressing email addresses that have opted out, suppression lists may also be used to suppress a list of existing customers from ever receiving emails.
